Audition Prep FAQ:

Q- How do I help prepare my child for the audition?
Acting-
Your child will need to prepare a 1 minute monologue. These can be found online or in audition books here are a few sample sites you may peruse:
  • http://www.donzolidis.com/monologue.html

Singing-
Your child will need to learn and memorize the assigned audition songs. PDFs and rehearsal/accompaniment tracks can be found in Google Classroom - code is gtpz406. Please note that all auditions will take place with the accompaniment track, not rehearsal track. The rehearsal track is for learning only.

Dancing-
Your child will need to learn the 32 beat dance audition cut from the video on Google Classroom. We do recommend that your child attend the dancing workshops in August to prepare for the audition, but the workshops are not required.  Dates for the workshops are posted above.

Remind your child that there will be some waiting. They are auditioning the entire time they are in the room because we are observing their rehearsal etiquette. There should be no shouting, running around or trash talking. It may be a good idea to pack a book or device to keep your child occupied during down time.

Q- Is there a cost involved?
A- Students will be expected to pay for the rental of their costumes, a production fee, some meals and additional items such as T-shirts. Estimated cost are between $75-200, depending on your child's role and involvement. After the cast list is posted please email me privately if there is hardship.

Q- When will I know if my child was cast?
A- We will post a cast list on the website by Saturday at noon after call backs. The cast list will be in the drama room the following week and on the website, and students are expected to accept their roles by initialing beside their name. There may be adjustments if those initially cast do not accept their role.

Q-Can my child lose their role?
A- It is important that students are present, prepared and respectful. The director will contact you if there are problems which arise. The general rule is that there should be no more than 2 absences from a scheduled rehearsal.  If your child is absent, please contact the director by email to discuss ways to help them be prepared upon their return.  Excessive absences or bad rehearsal habits can ruin the experience for all involved.
