Mrs. Vanessa Edwards,
​Choral Director

Vanessa Edwards has served as choral director at Autrey Mill MS since 2014. Vanessa attended McNeese State University, earning a Bachelors of Music Education and two levels of Kodaly certification.  She is a member of the VoiceCare Network, having completed the training courses in pedagogy and conducting in 2018 and 2019.  She also participated in the Atlanta Conducting Summer Institute 2021-2024 through Georgia State University as a Conducting Fellow, Auditor and Staff Singer. She currently is a member of Lux, a professional chorus for women. She also directed the GMEA DV 7th-8th Grade Treble Honor Chorus in 2024.

Vanessa has served in a leadership capacity on the Autrey Mill School Governance Council from 2015-2018 and as GA ACDA R&R Chair for Middle School/Junior High in 2018-2019. She also served as GMEA District V Secretary (2016-2020) and Choral Chair (2020-2022). Mrs. Edwards has served as clinician host and event organizer for GMEA District V Honor Chorus, co-organizer for District V Large Group Performance Evaluation and site host for Fulton County Elementary Choral Clinic. 

Vanessa currently serves as Fulton County Schools Fine Arts Support Teacher Lead (2022-2026). She also serves on the GMEA All State Standing Committee (2023-2029) and as District V Chair (2024-2026). Vanessa Edwards is a GMEA approved adjudicator, and is available for LGPE and Solo & Ensemble events.

Vanessa is the recipient of the GMEA District V Teacher of the Year (2025) and along with her colleagues, Tim Anderson and Autumn Smith, the GMEA Program of the Year 2025. The Autrey Mill MS Chorus was also the 2023 GMEA Choral Exemplary Performance Award Recipient. 

Mr. Chance Passmore, Student Director

Chance Passmore is a classically trained performer and aspiring music educator who dreams to better the lives of others through his gift. Chance grew up in Dawsonville, Georgia and is a graduate of Piedmont University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance. Chance has competed and performed across the nation including performances in the Winner’s Recital for the National Association of Teachers of Singing completion. In transitioning from performance to education, Chance is working towards completing a Master of Arts in Teaching at Georgia College and State University. Presently, Chance resides in Alpharetta, GA with his wife, daughter, and puppy-dog where he teaches private vocal lessons.
